Diversion is an informal process expected to preclude further involvement in the juvenile justice system. We offer programs which offer constructive alternatives to traditional sanctions. Our diversion program stresses positive values, personal responsibility, and achievement. Our goal is to help youth with the goal of learning to cope with stressors and temptations through better decision-making. Youth are held accountable but can avert formal charges upon successful completion of the diversion program.

Solving Problems with Possibilities

Youth subject to pending charges in juvenile court face a maze of problems that complicate their lives. These problems can distract them from learning socially acceptable behavior in their families, schools, and communities. The SGYD program offers insights and approaches to serving youth and their families within a safe environment.

Our Program

Our student staff members are trained in the the number one nationally recognized youth diversion program, Thinking for a Change (T4C). The parent program, taught by trained facilitators, is the Parent Project®. The ten week student and parent classes are offered in conjunction with guest speakers who discuss current topics such as drug use, safe use of technology, smoking, and other current topics.

Community Involvement

SGYD promotes teamwork with family- and child-focused agencies. We work with local agencies to counter problems confronting youth and their families. We work with area law enforcement agencies, schools, and social service agencies,

Established in 2012, we are a Lucas County Court approved program. We serve Holland, Monclova, Maumee,Swanton, Waterville, and Whitehouse.
